In Canada, local politicians can be removed from office between elections via recall, election law violations, criminal convictions, conflict of interest, absenteeism, misconduct, incapacity, council resolution, etc. -- all without the sweeping powers in Bill 20.

1/ The UCP appointed Mr. Yager to the AER board - quietly on a Friday afternoon.

I questioned the energy minister on addressing liabilities and reforming the AER, but he somehow recommended Mr. Yager's book instead of answering why the industry closure schedule was erased #ableg

We expect this UCP gov't to act in the interests of our communities instead of the interests of their egos.

Bill 18 will open the door to political censorship in post-secondary institutions that has no place in a democratic society such as ours.
