Last year I had the pleasure of joining Hana Raza of Leopards Beyond Borders to see their work in the mountains near the Iranian border, as part of Reza Pakravan FRGS’s new series Hidden Frontiers. The episode airs this Sunday on Discovery in the US

It was a privilege to meet all those striving to protect and document the Persian leopards, including brothers Nabaz and Bahez, who showed Reza where and how they do this invaluable work. They are the epitome of grassroots conservationists, and their passion was contagious

It was a thrill for me to explore a new part of the Kurdistan region and to witness the work that has been done, especially in the face of such challenges. Thanks to Reza Pakravan FRGS for trusting me to look after him, and to Hana Raza and her team for showing us their work
