The Gospel presentation is not God picks some to be part of His family and leaves others to slavery in sin without hope. The Gospel presentation is that the hope of the Light of Jesus Christ has come to all the world and whoever believes in Jesus Christ receives His eternal life.

The end of Rom 1:18-3:19 is that on account of our disobedience, we all become guilty before God. This argues heavily against a view of Rom 5:12-21 that we are born guilty through Adam. Before the reader ever arrives at Rom 5:12, we already know we are guilty from our own sin.

God's knowledge of your future choices do not cause or determine your choices according to their own Stephen Charnock. God knows what you will choose tomorrow, because you will choose it tomorrow. God's foreknowing doesn't take away your liberty to choose because it is knowing.

The preaching of the Gospel, the reading of Scripture, and the convicting of the Spirit is all that is needed for a person to believe in Christ. God gives this grace to every single person who hears the Gospel. Why? Because He is kind and gracious.

Run Cajun Run #17 - 6.61 miles I crossed the 100 mile mark and now sit at 100.8 for the month. 150 is easily in reach and I should pass my previous single month high of 108 miles on Saturday.

I'll never understand how they think a passage like this refutes the view that God gave us free will. And I wonder if he would consider himself Reformed since the vast majority of their best teachers would never deny that men have free will.

When God numbers your days, He takes into account how you used those days. When God gives you the right to be His child, He takes into account if you placed your faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. God always has wise reasons for His actions.

This type of discussion is made by men who aren't content with what the Bible teaches about God. They want to fashion a god who has the form of godliness but comes from their own reasoning.

1. The New Covenant was still future in the days of the prophets. 2. People believed in God and anticipated the Messiah. 3. The New Covenant blessings are not required to enable people to believe the Gospel. 4. The New Covenant blessings are a gift to those who believe in Him.

The guys who are mocking and shaming Pastor Thomas for not just "preaching the Word" would be the same scoffers opposing the illustrations of Ezekiel or the parables of Jesus.

The Bible is filled with extreme illustrations to empower the teacher and aid the audience. Jeremiah wore a yoke. Ezekiel made a miniature Jerusalem out of a brick and laid siege to it. Jesus consistently told stories and those stories were the entirety of His preaching.

I think one problem with Reformed Theology is that it does make Jesus and God appear to be not strong or ineffective. The reason - His people know Him and are filled by His Spirit - yet we sin and don't act biblically. And then it leads to unbiblical claims like this one.
