How do innovation and education policies interact w/ the supply of talent and economic growth?
In “Tapping into Talent,” Ufuk Akcigit Marta Prato and I combine detailed micro-data on PhDs, inventors, and innovation to study policies with a new endogenous growth framework 🧵
``How do policies affect the supply of inventors and economic growth? We find that the inventors' talent pool improves when R&D policy is combined with higher education subsidies'

Very happy that our paper with Q. Ashraf, Oded Galor, B. Gershman and Erik Hornung is forthcoming at The Review of Economic Studies. We propose the complementarity between physical capital and effective labor as a mechanism to explain the decline of coercive labor institutions.
Very happy to share that our paper with Mariacristina De Nardi and Giulio Fella on rich wage dynamics and their impact on (benefit) policy evaluation is now accepted at The Review of Economic Studies 👇
.Mariacristina De Nardi, Fella and Gonzalo Paz-Pardo use a rich model of couples and singles’ savings and labour supply to show that allowing for rich wage dynamics is key to properly evaluating policy reforms.
