Retired teachers. Back on supply!

Proud to have responded to The Call!

An allegory.

Margaret and I would like to give a special mention to everybody involved in exams and assessment processes over the coming weeks, in secondary schools & colleges everywhere. From teachers, leaders, support staff and invigilators to the young people themselves:
We wish you well!

We hope you are enjoying the bank holiday weekend!

Let us brighten your morning with the sight of some stunning fields.

This could be Amsterdam, the Netherlands, but it's nearer to home...🎵

The Norfolk Tulip Garden, near Kings Lynn.

We've got Ofsted's Big Listen and we've had Margaret's Bigger Listen.

Now it's time for The Alternative Big Listen.

Educators past and present, please make sure your voices are heard!

It all started with Mr Tickle, in 1971.

By the mid-seventies, Roger Hargreaves' Mr Men books were ubiquitous.

The Little Miss collection followed in 1981, while Hargreaves also penned the animal book series, Timbuctoo, in 1978.

(Mr Small was Margaret's favourite, naturally.)

Thank you for your kind words, Rob! We hope you like your gift!

It's a blessing to be able to bring people together and to offer a little light.

Margaret has been offered three days in a Reception class.

Margaret adores Reception but she thinks three hours is probably her limit now.

If she had the stamina to do three days in Reception, Margaret says she 'would probably be a firefighter, a farmer or a circus performer'.

Our journey through the alphabet of 'Old School Days' has reached the letter 'M'.

We've been looking forward to this! There are many marvellous 'M' memories - from Magic Grandad (Margaret's choice) to mapographs (my choice).

Here are some Macdonald (books for) STARTERS:

This week's Old School Assembly Hymn is more modern (relatively!) than many of our choices.

'I, The Lord of Sea and Sky (Here I Am)' was written in 1979 and first published in 1981.

This melodic, popular song is based on Biblical verses from the books of Isaiah and 1 Samuel.
