It all starts with a forecast. Forecast sales by item-day combination. Ex) 32 units of said item will sell on 1/3/23 for the item's selling period (launch date through markdown date.)

Know your ending on hand (EOH) by item-day combination. EOH = Beginning On Hand + Receipts - Sales.
