Yesterday we sampled the rivers around Margam Park on the field trip, looking at how abiotic factors affect invertebrates. We even managed to do a choice chamber experiment. We arrived home safely last night in Repton; thank you to all staff & L6 biologists for a memorable trip!

From the field trip straight to ⁦University of Dundee⁩ for an insight into the university and a tour of some impressive facilities including fantastic labs for the life sciences. Looking forward to hearing more about medicine, dentistry and anatomy which rank very highly in UK

In the RSB Intermediate Olympiad we had a super set of results. Six pupils were awarded certificates, and eight achieved medals. Well done indeed to Grace P, Ella B and Sophie D who achieved a prestigious Silver medal, placing them in the top 10% of pupils worldwide UK Biology Competitions

It was a real pleasure to welcome over 30 very enthusiastic, engaged & knowledgeable Year 6 pupils from ⁦Repton Primary School⁩ to the Science Priory Repton School⁩ for a hands-on workshop all about the heart. I was impressed with their efforts, despite some squeamish moments!

So after 15 wonderful years as Head of Biology at Repton, I’m focusing on Head of Science @ReptonScience and Medicine @ReptonMedSoc from September. This year’s U6 biologists have been a delight; it was great to share Speech Day & the Ball with them, and I wish them every success.

Today marks the first day of LGBT+ History Month. We continually strive for equality and ensure Repton School is a welcoming and supportive place for all. #AReptonStory

Many thanks to our Green Team from our community action project who spent today helping to lay the path through our woodland walk. It was excellent to see the final element of this project coming together. The grounds team have also put up bat 🦇 boxes to attract wildlife. Fab!

Ecological wellbeing in action at the Biology Society this week! 30 students from all years made some beautiful terraria (miniature ecosystems) which they got to keep.

Our brilliant L6th Biologists delivered some fantastic presentations that explored Biology beyond the limitations of the A Level specification. Topics included fibromyalgia, equine herpes virus, prions and the science of immortality! #biology #alevelbiology #science

Congratulations to Team "Cheat" - Daisy, Lizzie, Alice and Claudia - for winning the 2023 Biology Field Trip quiz! Scoring 50 out of a possible 70 points, very impressive!

And a big congratulations to the 4 runners who ran every morning of our trip - Sergei, Poppy, Maggie and Luke. Here they are at the top of the ridge overlooking Margam Park.
