🚨BREAKING🚨 This afternoon, I joined Senator Jesse James, Representative Lindee Brill, Sen. Van Wanggaard, Rep. Barbara Dittrich, and Sen. Rob Hutton in introducing legislation creating a criminal penalty for grooming a child. This bill will hold predators accountable while delivering justice for victims.

I just personally handed Superintendent Underly copies of my proposed bills that criminalize grooming and require schools to have policies defining appropriate communication standards between employees and minors. Looking forward to her testimony in public hearings.

I authored a bill that requires DPI to certify that a district’s finances were completed on time before they can go to a referendum, to avoid situations like what happened with MPS going forward. DPI registered against that bill. Make it make sense.

It’s a busy morning at the State Capitol, but I was grateful to catch part of today’s Veterans Day ceremony in the Rotunda. A beautiful tribute to the men and women—past and present—who have sacrificed so much in service to our country. 🇺🇸

In just two months, school resource officers have prevented *multiple* threats of gun violence in MPS hallways. Democrats fought tooth and nail to keep SROs out of Milwaukee schools, saying that police don’t belong in the schools. The reality is their presence is saving lives

This statement from Governor Tony Evers is ridiculous. Here is how grooming is defined in the bill (which he clearly has not read). Absolutely nothing in this bill prohibits teachers from giving a kid a hug when they're having a bad day. It's about protecting kids from predators & abuse.

Declining enrollment is hitting nearly 70% of WI school districts, and there’s no referendum that is going to be able to change that. I’m pushing reforms that give districts tools and incentives to consolidate, save resources, and strengthen student opportunities.

While the UW raises tuition on students, professors making upwards of six-figures are complaining about requirements that they actually have to teach the classes. If our students are going to be asked to pay more, they deserve a product that reflects that investment.

You know you gave a good floor speech when Rep. Shae Sortwell gives you a thumbs up! Wisconsin already has some of the highest property tax rates in the country. It will only get worse thanks to Governor Evers’s 400-year Democrat Property Tax Increase.

One of the biggest challenges facing school districts is declining enrollment. There’s no referendum that can be passed or budget that can be signed that will reverse decades of birthrate declines. We need real, long-term solutions. I was proud to vote on them today.
