Big win for LA! I led my colleagues in a letter to @FEMA and successfully secured $21.8 million to help our unhoused neighbors on Skid Row and throughout LA who need it most, including unhoused migrant children.

The Food Stamp Act of 1964 laid the groundwork for SNAP and WIC, helping countless families across America put food on the table. I'm working to strengthen these programs with the EATS Act, which would expand SNAP benefits for millions of college students facing food insecurity.

#LaborDay reminds us of the achievements and struggles of all workers. For decades, unions have fought for fair pay and protections. As a former labor organizer, I know this fight is still ongoing. While we celebrate workers today, we continue to push for a better tomorrow.

We're mere weeks into the school year and, already, children are subject to the horrors of this country's gun violence epidemic. Parents shouldn't have to wonder if their kids will make it home from school. We must pass commonsense regulations. My heart breaks for these families.
