Great to meet with the team at Kitsap County Public Works to learn more about ways to improve our region's water infrastructure - including the Central Kitsap Wastewater Treatment Plant Solids Upgrades Project, which I'm working to secure funding for as a member of House Appropriations Democrats.
61 years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and over 200k people marched on D.C. to call for an end to segregation and demand civil and economic rights for all. While we celebrate how far our nation has come, House Democrats will keep fighting for a more just and equal society.
We've got work to do to ensure every American has the freedom to make their voice and vote heard. I’m proud to have received an “A” from Defend The Vote for working to protect the right to vote and safeguard our democracy. Let's keep at it!
One of my favorite spots in Olympic NPS is Lake Crescent. During our recent Climate Change tour, my colleagues on the House of Reps. SEEC and I headed there to discuss the importance of partnerships and listening to the experts in the natural resources arena.
I'm committed to making the changes necessary to ensure that Congress is more informed and better equipped to make decisions and develop policies that will support our natural resources and invest in projects like those within Olympic NPS and at Lake Crescent.
While at Lake Crescent, we learned about new technologies being used by Olympic NPS to prevent waste from entering our lakes and rivers. It's crucial that the federal government step up and do its part to support local projects.
Thank you Rep. Derek Kilmer for your support of AmeriCorps and organizations that use #NationalService as an opportunity for civic bridgebuilding. #AmeriCorpsWorks #Stand4Service
The housing crisis impacts folks across the country, including here in Washington state. Thanks to awesome organizations like Tacoma Habitat and incredible volunteers like Nick Jackson, we are making huge strides in ensuring that every person has a roof over their heads.
Nick received the Lifetime President’s Volunteer Service Award from AmeriCorps CEO Michael D. Smith earlier this summer. He served three terms with Habitat for Humanity through AmeriCorps and is now a construction lead for Tacoma Habitat! Congratulations, Nick!
I recently sat down for a roundtable discussion with Imagine Justice and VetCorps. We had a meaningful conversation with AmeriCorps CEO Michael D. Smith about how their programs benefit folks in our region. Proud to be a partner to these important organizations!
I grew up w/ Olympic NPS in my backyard. I’ve seen firsthand how public lands captivate visitors & residents alike and served as key economic drivers for WA-6. That's why I've helped pass major laws to protect our enviro & support access to our public lands for generations to come
It was great getting the chance to visit the Northwest Food Bank and see the important work they are doing to support low-income seniors in our region. We were joined by AmeriCorps CEO Michael D. Smith and had the opportunity to recognize the incredible work of their volunteers!
