In Shkoder with CoE &@SCiDEV_Center on journalists' safety where we stressed the importance of media freedom for the democracy. We’re proud to have supported this project in strengthening stakeholder engagement for journalist safety& remain committed to building on this progress.

We successfully completed the MATRA project “Strengthening the SPO,” led by CILC_NL. Over two years, it provided trainings and piloted new methods for prosecutors and staff at SPAK. Now we shift focus with a new project on financial investigations.

We celebrated AL’ first UN Day for Judicial Well-being ahead of its global debut on 25 July with UNDP in Albania—honoring judges and prosecutors, joined by Dutch Supreme Court Justice Marc Fierstra. Their work is key to Albania’s future in the rule of law.

SPAK is a cornerstone of Albania’s justice reform, an irreversible milestone, with a crucial role in fighting high-level corruption and organized crime.

Civil society used our MATRA funded ClusterOne Platform to discuss a baseline study on the real balance between autonomy & accountability, and to facilitate an informed dialogue with SPAK, the parliament, the oversight bodies, civil society, and international partners.

Without strong safeguards, the external/ internal pressures: political, media-related or criminal, can make the institution’s integrity/performance vulnerable.

Pleased to attend the award ceremony of the Regional Law Competition project, supported by our MATRA programme. A great initiative that empowers law students across the region to engage with justice, critical thinking, and the rule of law. Congratulations to all participants!
