All right, all right, all right, it's that time of the year were Spring is upon us, the birds are chirping, and Oxford Oxford Nanopore gives us a tech update in #LC2024 #nanoporeconf

Nanopore is... All you need! According to Clive Brown Clive G. Brown #nanoporeconf Oxford Nanopore

Led by @harika_urel Helmholtz Munich PhD & Postdoc | Career Center TU München, we Helmholtz AI Vetsuisse-Fakultät Zürich Forschungszentrum Jülich | @[email protected] present first evidence that AI-based analysis of Oxford Nanopore signal data might enable viability-resolved metagenomics – completely for free! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…; a quick thread (0/3):

Phone screenshots are the worst. But can you tell which flow cell is the improved buffer? One needs flushing, the other is still going strong. I hope Oxford Nanopore can get these out of beta asap!

This is worth a new thread. Not quite 24 hours. 50 Gb of data with an N50 of 115kb from a single load on a flow cell. This compares with 33.4 Gb in the same time from a standard flow cell with the same library and 2 loads. These beta flow cells need to stop being beta Oxford Nanopore

Direct native RNA (no cDNA!) sequencing from Oxford Nanopore is revolutionising RNA sequencing. It already achieves 19.4 Q accuracy and can detect modifications like m6a, m5c, pseudouridine and inosine. Watch my colleague Bronya Boydon explain how it works. youtube.com/watch?v=9qiClB…
