Just completed two successful PhD defenses today and yesterday of joint students between UVM Larner Med and Maastricht University Yvonne J Heininger RedoxVT

Faculty and students had the opportunity to meet with visiting speaker Marcus Bosenberg director of Yale Center for Immuno-Oncology and former UVM Larner Med and CMB @ UVM faculty. He was back visiting campus to speak at Pathology Grand Rounds about "Identifying Novel Anti-Cancer Immune Therapies".

Nate Shannon, 4th year CMB student in the Cunniff Lab, received a travel award for a top scored abstract submitted to the 2022 @SfRBM Annual Meeting

The Cunniff Lab has received funding from newly established Butler Family Foundation Fund at the UVM Cancer Center to support research focused on malignant mesothelioma and identifying new biomarkers most responsive to a new MM treatment. Read more here: med.uvm.edu/uvmcancercente…

Check out this recent publication from RedoxVT faculty Albert van der Vliet and his collaborators in American Physiological Society addressing altered redox mechanisms in obesity associated allergic asthma journals.physiology.org/doi/abs/10.115…

Congratulations to AJP-Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology March #APSselect winners Habibovic, Albert van der Vliet et al. for “Diet-induced obesity worsens allergen-induced type 2/type 17 inflammation in airways by enhancing DUOX1 activation”. ow.ly/ploH50NaUKT RedoxVT Vermont Lung Center UVM Larner Med

PhD student Nate Shannon gave a great update on his research examining the molecular mechanisms whereby subcellular positioning of mitochondria affects cell biology! Great new insights into the role of Miro1. Nate works in the Cunniff Lab

Congratulations to Bebo Seward on his NCI R21 award. This work will focus on immunotherapy resistance in lung cancer. med.uvm.edu/com/news/2023/…
