📍 Iran | We are appalled by the killing of three aid workers from the Iranian Red Crescent Society (Iranian Red Crescent Society) while they were carrying out their humanitarian work. Our condolences go out to their families, friends, and colleagues.
Iranian Red Crescent Society 📍 Israel | Over the last days, multiple volunteers of Magen David Adom (Magen David Adom) were injured while working to save the lives of others. Medical volunteers and other humanitarian workers save lives and should be able to do so in safety.
Signed 76 years ago, the #GenevaConventions protect civilians, medical workers, and others not taking part in the fight. Today, with conflicts around the world, these protections are more important than ever. At Australian Red Cross, we remain committed to promoting the laws of war.
As we reflect on #WorldHumanitarianDay, we take a moment to honour the immense impact humanitarian workers make - especially those responding in conflict zones around the world. At any time, Australian Red Cross delegates are ready to deploy to where their skills are needed most.
