YTD 35%. Portfolio hit another all time high this Friday. Mean reversion strategies took over last week just in time closing TQQQ. Short strategy also became active at the beginning of this week and that helped immensely to escape the NDX sell off.

Portfolio is chugging along with the market. It’s hovering at all time highs with YTD of 36%. NDX momentum seems to be accelerating and my strategies love this kind of momentum. This is the kind of environment where I make most money.

This is a great post. It shows you cannot wing it in trading as humans we are not designed to make consistent decisions daily. That is the pitfall of discretionary trading. My solution for that is to completely systematize my trading and call it a day, it worked great for me.

Fixed a performance bug in my automation. Profiled the code and found out that I was recalculating EMA for all bars over and over. After caching data, runtime dropped from around 80 seconds to under 4 seconds. Now I can run my strategies and place orders in 4 seconds.

Nice post. My viewpoint is that algo trading also has a high ceiling, Jim Simons is a really good example. This decision has to be made at an individual level as everyone has their own strengths. We all need to play our own game, not somebody else’s game.

This does not happen often, but the switch between long and short strategies worked out well in the last two days. I will take it. 🤷‍♂️

My back tested CAGR for the last 20 years is around 60% and for the last 40 years is 80%. The last 3 years produced around 40%. There are no guarantees and past performance is not indicative of future performance, but my opinion is that there is lot of catching up to do and the

If you are scared of drawdowns, you are going to limit yourself with the profits. No pain, no gain in this game. As I said back in February, my strategy makes the most money in years where there is volatility. It turned out to be true for this year so far.

Thanks UnForgeron You inspired me to keep pushing and I created short strategies with your inspiration. I tested my strategy with buys at the next day open(instead of same day at market close). CAGR is 60%(original strategy) vs 50%(buy on market open). Interestingly both

Good. I don’t want everyone to start making money by developing the power to sit through tough drawdowns. Crisis averted.

There are only 3 things you need to make money in the stock market. Edge, conviction to use that edge and lastly a process to ensure you play your edge consistently. Everything else is just BS and noise. Fastest way to become profitable is to focus on the above 3.

I have the same thought process as you here. My strategies are super simple and I don’t expect them to uncover a major edge, especially in liquid and popular instruments like TQQQ. So one of the ways to have high returns is to do something that majority of the people cannot do,
