This mentality that “all is already lost” is so frustrating. There are many elected officials, staffers, organizations, coalitions, lobbyists, and grassroots activists ready to fight for the 6-month CR + SAVE Act (and to hold GOP leadership accountable if they try to sell out)!

Those who vote against the CR + SAVE Act will — if they succeed in defeating it — guarantee (1) a lame-duck omnibus, and (2) an election in which large numbers of noncitizens could vote, potentially changing the outcome of the election. I sincerely hope they will reconsider.

Something that would stop noncitizens from voting isn’t a “bright shiny object.” If you think that provision will later be abandoned, say so and try to stop the abandonment. But it’s wrong to speak of a critical election-security measure as a trivial gimmick.
