Not long now! Commentary position is coming together. There are crews out practicing on the course. Coaches - please note that Tactical Medical would like to remind you to bring spare clothes in case of capsize and as it could be hot a reminder to hydrate and bring sun screen.

Starting to feel real! The start raft is ready to move to position. Crews practicing starts. The marshals would like to remind crews that the river is open to traffic for the regatta and that crews must not practise starts nor row at firm pressure in the navigation channel. 🙏

Lots of crews wonder which side is Oxford and which side is Berkshire. Easy way to remember is that Reading Rowing Club is on the Berkshire bank. Don’t worry, if you forget it is written on the start raft. You just have to remember which side of the draw you are on!

Coxing or steering at Reading Am this weekend? You get a course map. There are also distance markers at 1km, 500m, 400m, 300m, 200m and 100m to go. The 400m is quite hidden, but there is also a sign saying Boathouse 12 on the opposite bank at 400m to go. 🤫 don’t tell everyone.

Note to crews that we have nesting cygnets on the course on the navigation channel side. Please take extra care at the 600m to go on the way to the start. (Opposite the umpire on the launch next to the white posts).

Huge thank you to our course team who get up very early to get the course finalised for you to race on. They work on Friday evening and finish Saturday morning and lay about 100 buoys including these two huge ones which mark the start and finish of the course.

Welcome to day 2 of Reading Amateur Regatta. We race over 1000m on Sunday. Big thanks to the course team for moving the start raft and getting the course ready. We can see some of the competitors checking out the course near the commentary position.

We were at the Caversham Court Fete and saw some amazing colouring entries to the CADRA Residents’ Association colouring competition. Thank you to Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service for providing us with the design for the competition. Here are a few of the entries. ❤️
