Today was the most “normal” the school has felt in over a year. With all students having the option to return daily, over 40 kids visited Cafe 126 throughout the day. Just hearing the laughter and excitement all over the building made things feel alive again. #jerichohs

Youth Decide/SteamBites & Jmac students spent the past 2 days presenting to the HS Health classes on stressors and effective ways to de-stress. Sometimes the best way to get students to open up is by having their peers discuss meaningful topics with them. #jerichohs Danielle Smith, PsyD

#Jerichohs students had an awesome time visiting Southside HS in RVC as part of our LEAD club. An amazing experience being able to knock down barriers and bring students of different communities together to build connections. Danielle Smith, PsyD

Today the 9th per Cafe 126 squad threw a farewell party for some of the seniors in the group. Listening to the students speak & shed some tears, reaffirmed to me how the goal of having a room in the school where students can connect with one another has truly served its purpose

Had another amazing LEAD meeting between #jerichohs and Southside HS. The students presented to one another on the topics of preparing for life after HS & Mental Health. There’s was even an impromptu game of Red light Green light.

Remember when you used to rent a movie at blockbuster and get some popcorn? Well, you can still do the popcorn part. Help support some awesome 10 yr olds who love baseball. If you need the movie, I’ll lend you my Apple TV account for the weekend. popup.doublegood.com/s/fbn36w34

There were plenty of cool things that happened at Jericho today, but for me, the coolest was watching this group of HS kids, who used to spend their lunch periods with me daily when they were in 6th grade, impart their wisdom onto current 6th graders. Was a full circle moment.

Lead meetings where we bring students from different districts, cultures, races, together, and allow them to connect is always a school year highlight that never disappoints. #jericho #rockvillecentre #baldwin

This past week was bitter sweet. I watched a group of amazing kids that I’ve known for the past 7 years (since they were 6th graders) graduate HS. Seeing them go from 11 yr olds to young adults ready to take on the world, has been a blessing for me. Wishing them all the best
