Until now, sex in law has been assumed to be based on your birth certificate (which can be amended by a GRC). The Supreme Court ruling changing it to "biological sex", a much messier definition which isn't binary, without a definition introduces huge uncertainty to the law.

Solidarity with trans women after today’s Supreme Court ruling. The rollback of LGBT rights — especially trans rights — is global, bankrolled by billionaires and the far-right. Trans rights are human rights. We must defend the Equality Act and its protections for trans people.

Women’s rights remain exactly as they were at 09:44 this morning. What has changed are the rights of trans people who hold a GRC. This was never about safeguarding women — it has always been a cruel and calculated effort to target and undermine trans lives.
