Thanks, everyone, for the kind words of encouragement and shares of my new project.

I'm part of a group called Lacuna Observatory, and we'll be showing together in northern California in November. More info to come, plus some fun ways to participate if you're into it.

Seed pods of Balloon and Showy Davis milkweed. Both varieties are gorgeous and beneficial in the garden.
Milkweed is the sole food source for monarch butterfly caterpillars. Our monarch populations have declined more than 95% in my lifetime, partly due to habitat loss. πŸ¦‹

I'm working on an art show for this fall. I don't yet know what I'm doing, so I'm just messing around with some of my existing images until I figure it out.

A favorite 150-year-old coast redwood at UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley was lost in a big storm last year. They milled the lumber on-site and used the material to build steps and benches throughout the grounds. It is a beautiful tribute.

Slimer, is that you? I spent the weekend getting photobombed by glow-in-the-dark plant lice.

Too small to see with the unaided eye, it was fun to watch them zoom around under the macro lens. The focus stacking was like a mini stop-motion film.

Great advice!

It took me a minute to learn IR editing, and as I learn more or change style, I re-edit captures even from long ago.

In The Tibetan Yogas Of Dream And Sleep, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche says there is no difference between your dreams and reality.

I went hiking in these hills a few days ago & now all my dreams are set here. When I wake early with sleep inertia, it does feel like they're blending.

Spotted two male Pin-tailed Whydahs perched on a fence at Sunol Regional Wilderness yesterday. Absolute stunners!

I've read that they are an African native, but there's a small wild population in SoCal. I don't see anything about them here in the Bay Area.

I was on the road and only caught the tail end of one slice of the whole-sky show but dang. Looking at Alameda across Brooklyn Basin.
