Araştırma ekibimizden çıkan 13üncü tez öğrencimiz Raheem Hashmani'yi mezun ettik. ODTÜ Bilgisayar Müh.'den Emre Akbas Dr. Emre Akbaş hoca ile ortak öğrencimiz tezini uzay, fizik ve yapay zekanın kesişim kümesinde yazdı.

Happy anniversary, UW–Madison! In honor of #UW175, The Wonders Of Physics created this demo on time — with a perfect 75 oscillations (sorry, 175 is just too much!) in one minute for the shortest pendulum. The entire sequence is a mesmerizing pattern of weaving bocce balls 👀

Congrats to PhD student Raheem Hashmani on the publication of his first-author article, "A comparison of deep learning models for proton background rejection with the AMS electromagnetic calorimeter," in Machine Learning: Science and Technology! The work was completed at METU / ODTÜ ⬇️iopscience.iop.org/article/10.108…

A big thanks to M. Bilge Demirköz and Emre Akbas, without whom this paper wouldn't be possible!

I have this book! I can see the Washburn Observatory from my office. And last week Raheem Hashmani organized for the Data Science Institute to visit the old planetarium, which got me thinking about how the notion of a physics-inspired or data-driven “model” has evolved

I'll be cohosting the U.S. National Science Foundation HDR ML Challenge UW–Madison kickoff event later today with Josh Peterson from A3D3 Institute at datascience@uw. nsfhdr.org/mlchallenge

That’s Josh from A3D3 Institute explaining the 3 challenges! I can peep Kyle Cranmer there too. 👀 Garrett Merz is here hiding just outside the photo. A lot of people from UW–Madison Computer Sciences, UW-Madison Physics, and UW–Madison Statistics! datascience@uw

Excited to host the UW–Madison U.S. National Science Foundation HDR ML Challenge kickoff meeting today with Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center. The challenge: develop algorithms that can identify subtle differences and anomalies across three provided datasets. Thanks to everyone who participated! A3D3 Institute
