Areas of heavy rain and the potential for flash flooding will continue over the next few days across Texas and the Gulf Coast! A slight risk of excess rainfall is in place for parts of Texas today and will expand eastward to the central Gulf Coast through Thursday.

Areas of low pressure along a stationary front draped across the Gulf Coast will help produce heavy rainfall across the region this week! The area of focus will shift generally from west to east throughout the week leading to scattered instances of flash flooding.

A heat wave is forecast to affect parts of the western US throughout the week and into the weekend. Excessive heat is expected to build across this region as heat expands from the Desert Southwest towards the West Coast. Some gradual relief is expected by the end of the weekend.

Above-normal temperatures are anticipated next week for the West beneath a strong mid-level ridge! In contrast, below-normal temperatures are expected east of the Mississippi and in the southern Plains, except Florida where above-normal temperatures are favored.
