Field Teams are out at #WestBay in #Dorset today moving beach material displaced by #StormCiaran. Restoring the beach profile will reduce flood risk and protect against waves, and will also re-establish safe public access.

Update on emergency road closures due to flooding in #Somerset. The good news is that Cutts Road is now open, this following New Road that was opened over the weekend as water levels continue to reduce. Emergency road closure gates (somerset.gov.uk) Somerset Council

Although saturation levels are still high, conditions are continuing to improve on the Somerset Levels and Moors. We have now installed and tested additional pumps at Northmoor. They are ready to operate should the unsettled weather return.

Last week’s particularly high tide at our Bridgwater Tidal Barrier site. These water levels are likely to increase with climate change, it's a good job the barrier scheme is underway!!! #bridgwatertidal Kier Group AtkinsRéalis Rachel Burden Environment AgencySW

Pumping continued until approx. 21:30 on the 21st at all stations until river levels rose again on the Tone and Parrett forcing spillways to run as well as inhibiting pumping at all pumping stations. Levels in the T&P are still too high to pump this morning. Environment AgencySW

Pumps were switched on at Currymoor this afternoon after levels in the Tone started to fall. Monksleaze was partially opened as Parrett spillways slowed. With dry weather ahead and tides falling, pumping will commence at all Langport stations as soon as possible. Environment AgencySW

Storm Bert is forecast for the weekend, Monksleaze & Dunball will be opened today to divert flows from the Parrett down the Sowy, this will allow pumping stations to pump for longer. Water levels were lowered to winter setting in late October, six weeks early! Environment AgencySW
