'Overall, there were good levels of awareness around what can be done to reduce the risk of developing cervical cancer'
This is good news, but it would be great to see more awareness around the impact of smoking on HPV persistence - help from HSE QUIT Team can really help!
It’s #cervicalcancerpreventionweek . Why does that matter? Because cervical cancer is one of the very few cancers that we can truly prevent, to the point that it will be a rare disease by 2040.

Today Ireland announced its target date of 2040 for #CervicalCancerElimination - making cervical cancer a rare disease that affects less than 4 per 100,000 women! This will require society wide support for HPV vaccination, cervical screening and treatment of precancer and cancer.
An extraordinary day for women in Ireland. Today is the launch of our target to make cervical cancer a rare disease as we work towards elimination.
