After 6 months, 60 scuba dives, 67 underwater recordings, 74 oxygen-logger deployments, 28 night watches by the sea, 41 respirometry trials, plus a lot of learning and more, our time in Moorea has come to its end (for now!). Thanks Suzanne Mills for being such an amazing host😁!
Congratulations to our two masters students Malin Fløysand and Elise Doddema for their superb masters thesis defences yesterday! Malin and Elise investigated how fluctuating and acute hypoxia affects behaviour and metabolism in the guppy. Hypoxia in Coral Reefs Theoretical Ecology Biovitenskap på UiB
🥳 Postdoc position open in my #Thermoevo project @LukeFinlandInt, in Oulu, Finland. 🚨 New paper out in #ConPhys 🚨 Led by @ZLcowan and Dr. Anna H. Andreassen while at Kristineberg Center, we developed a method to measure and compare CTmax across multiple life stages of fish! 🥚 🐥 🐓 (but with 🐟)
We have a PhD position available at our institute working on #fish, including #telemetry, #biologging & #ecophysiology! Trout, salmon, maybe tunas!!?🐟👀 with Kim Aarestrup & me! Retweet & share widely! 🙌 tinyurl.com/mr3t7p9j
Want to do a PhD investigating eco-physiological traits of fish that prepare them for climate change? Competitive DUPR scholarships available through Deakin University! DM me if you have a relevant background and strong academic record. Please RT! #fishsci deakin.edu.au/study/fees-and…
For those still on here, I'm super stoked to see this one out there! 🐟🔥🤏 Timothy Clark Hanna Scheuffele Deakin SEBE Deakin Research Supplemental oxygen does not improve growth but can enhance reproductive capacity of fish royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/full/10.10… A thread below 🧵1/n
Congrats to Dr Anna Andreassen who successfully defended her PhD thesis 🥳🥳🥳! Great work Dr. Anna H. Andreassen ! Thanks to the excellent opponents Wilco C.E.P. Verberk and Andrea Morash! NTNUnorway NTNU Faculty of Natural Sciences
I finished my PhD! Thank you Fredrik Jutfelt 🐠 for being a fantastic and inclusive supervisor. I'm extremely grateful that you've encouraged me to do so many fun things over the years. Although I've mostly worked in the lab, this 🧵is about the other stuff we've done. (1/9)
📢Job alert! I'm looking for a POSTDOC IN ANIMAL (FISH) ECOPHYSIOLOGY to join my research group at DTU Aqua (DTU) in Denmark. Focus is on understanding variation in how steeply metabolic rate changes (scales) with body size. PLEASE REPOST! More info: efzu.fa.em2.oraclecloud.com/hcmUI/Candidat…
Happy to announce two PhD positions in fish ecophysiology 📣 Fully funded, fun fish temperature physiology, supervision by me, Shaun Killen, Natalie Pilakouta! Naturvetenskap/GU Please spread the word 🙏 web103.reachmee.com/ext/I005/1035/…
Our new encyclopedia chapter Effects of Climate Warming is out! It’s a broad review covering acute and chronic effects of warming on fish physiology. I’ll break it down below. Rasmus Ern Robin Leeuwis Timothy Clark
Happy to announce a PhD opportunity in my lab at Zoophysiology Department of Biology, Aarhus University on retinal respiratory and metabolic physiology. The position is fully funded and open to both national and international students. (1/2)
Rachael Morgan and Dr. Anna H. Andreassen are back at criobe_pf with Suzanne Mills to investigate how hypoxia affects the vision👀of damselfish and cardinalfish🐠🪸. To do this we are 1) running optomotor experiments to see whether visual acuity is reduced at low oxygen levels and...
