RLNI FACT: In 1934 Ramsgate town celebrated the 50th. anniversary of its incorporation and was then allowed to add ‘supporters’ to their coat of arms. A lifeboatman and a coastguard were chosen with the lifeboatman being modelled on the then coxswain Thomas Read. #ramsgatetunnels

Our joint venture with The Green Jams has proved so popular we have had a restock! Warning to the lovers of the Rhubarb, Apple & Pear as our jams are made in small batches with seasonal ingredients this preserve will not be restocked until the rhubarb season is with us once more.

RLNI FACT: Before 1926 all of Ramsgate’s lifeboats were ‘pulling and sailing’, powered by wind and rowing. They were often towed to and from rescues by steam tugs which were based in the harbour from the 1840s. The 2 tugs that became the most famous were named “Aid” and “Vulcan”.
