One of my campaign goals was to have all committee meetings recorded & posted for transparency. I was unofficially told we can’t do that due to risk of “serial meetings” w/ a quorum of council members seeing the same information before it’s presented at COW or Council 🧵 1/3

minimum wage workers raising Families did not receive the same outreach effort or have an equal say in how this incremental policy was decided. Low wage Burien workers will make less than nearly all cities around us. Even our youth workers at fast food joints will not earn more.

City of Burien, WA Mayor Kevin Schilling didn't listen to activists. He didn't even meet with us, or any of the coalition members for #RaiseTheWageBurien. The legislation he championed includes a tip penalty, keeping workers' compensation at the whim of customers.
