Swifts raise their chicks high in eaves or nestboxes, returning to the same site year after year. When the young fledge, they launch into open air... & just keep going! They’ll remain airborne for the next two or three years, until it’s time to breed themselves. #SpringStories

Next week, thousands will gather in Westminster. To say: enough. Enough nature lost. Enough polluted rivers, soaring bills, & communities left to struggle. We’re calling for action that protects what matters: our health, climate, wildlife, & each other. Will you stand with us?

When you scream across the sky all summer, people tend to notice.... Swifts have picked up names like 'screechers', 'shriek owls' and even 'devil birds' over the years. if you were to rename them, what would you call Swifts? #ThoughtfulThursday

We want to live in a country where Swifts still soar, Skylarks still sing, rivers run clean, and communities thrive. Tomorrow, we take that vision to Westminster: to speak up for climate, nature and each other. Who's with us? Join the 9 July lobby: brnw.ch/21wTYCm 👈💚

Tonight brings the first full moon of summer: the Hay Moon 🌕🌾 Named by Anglo-Saxons for the hay harvest, it’s also called the ‘Buck Moon’, a Native American name marking the time young deer bucks grow new antlers. Celts knew it as the Wyrt or Mead Moon, for herb gathering.

It's hot... 🥵☀️ Make sure to put out plenty of water for birds & wildlife in your garden so they can keep cool and have enough to drink. They'll thank you!

We’re in a nature and climate emergency, and we welcome Ed Miliband and Steve Reed MP’s recognition of that yesterday. Tackling nature and climate together is essential. But facing the crisis means acting on it, and the latest EIP progress report is a reality check... (1/2)

Biddy Baxter’s love for nature helped the very first Big Garden Birdwatch take flight in 1979. By sharing it with Blue Peter viewers, she inspired over 34,000 children to take part , launching a tradition that’s still connecting people with nature today. Thank you, Biddy. 💚

Don't miss tonight's celestial show...🌕 The Corn Moon, our last full moon of summer, will rise in total lunar eclipse...glowing deep red as a Blood Moon. Catch it climbing the horizon from 19:30, with Saturn close by, shining brighter than usual.
