DG Zane Dangor, G20 Sherpa, accompanied by his 2 Sous-Sherpas, DDG Xolisa Mabhongo and Adv Nokukhanya, Officials from DIRCO, and the Permanent Delegation of SA to UNESCO met at UNESCO on collaborating with the organisation in preparation of the G20 summit in SA in November 2025.

MEETING WITH THE INTERNATIONAL ENERGY AGENCY. DG Zane Dangor, in his capacity as G20 Sherpa, and H.E. Nathi Mthethwa, Ambassador of South Africa to France, met the IEA’s Executive director Mr Fatih Birol, on 27 January at the IEA’s head office in Paris.

WOMEN’S DIALOGUE : FORGING BOLD PARTNERSHIP FOR A SHARED PROSPERITY. On 20 May 2025, a number of SA women entrepreneurs gathered at the Ritz in the context of the SA-France Investment Conference to share their experiences, views and hopes with their French counterparts.

SA-FRANCE INVESTMENT CONFERENCE. Deputy-President Mashatile opened the SA Investment Conference which brought together a large number of SA and French companies in Paris on 21 May 2025: an exceptional opportunity for exchanges on the many investment opportunities in South Africa

DEPUTY-PRESIDENT MASHATILE VISITS RATP. On May 22, Deputy President Mashatile visited the RATP. He was received by the RAPT's CEO, Mr Jean Castex. In SA, RATP operates several contracts. Mr Paul Mashatile encouraged the RATP to look into more collaboration opportunities.

DEPUTY PRESIDENT MASHATILE MEETS PRESIDENT EMMANUEL MACRON. Deputy-President Paul Mashatile, paid a courtesy call on the President Macron. The latter reiterated the commitment of France and SA to continue to work together in various multilateral platforms for diplomacy and peace

DEPUTY PRESIDENT P.MASHATILE MEETS WITH PRIME MINISTER F. BAYROU. Deputy President Paul Mashatile meet Prime Minister François Bayrou on May 23, 2025. Deputy President informed his counterpart of SA's ambitious infrastructure development and re-industrialisation plans.

DEPUTY PRESIDENT MASHATILE ADRESSES UNESCO. On May 23, Deputy President Mashatile delivered an address at UNESCO's Transforming MEN'talities campaign.The initiative aims to change mindsets and policies by highlighting effective strategies in the pursuit of gender equality.

DEPUTY PRESIDENT PAUL MASHATILE PAYS TRIBUTE TO DULCIE SEPTEMBER. Deputy President Mashatile visited the Dulcie September Memorial Square (Place Dulcie September 75010 Paris) to lay a wreath in remembrance of the SA anti-apartheid political activist assassinated in March 1988.

YOUTH MONTH 2025. The commemoration of Youth Month, and particularly Youth Day on 16 June, pays tribute to the 1976 Soweto Uprisings. Youth Month 2025 will be commemorated under the theme: “Skills for the changing world, empowering youth for meaningful economic participation.”

OECD MINISTERIAL MEETING IN PARIS. Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Mr Ronald Lamola, and Minister of Trade Industry and Competition Mr Parks Tau, arrived in Paris today to lead South Africa’s delegation at the 2025 OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (3–4 June).

AIR FRANCE BOOSTS CAPE TOWN-PARIS SERVICE FOR 2025/2026 SEASON. Operating from 15 December 2025 to 12 January 2026, the airline will run daily nonstop flights between CT and Paris. Air France-KLM will offer up to 18 weekly flights to CT and a total of 32 flights per week to SA.

CLOSURE OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN EMBASSY IN PARIS. Kindly note that in observance of Whit Monday, the South African Embassy in Paris, will be closed on Monday, 9 June 2025. The Embassy will resume its normal operations on Tuesday, 10 June 2025. Thank you for your understanding

Public Protector of South Africa, Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka, paid a courtesy call to H.E. Nathi Mthethwa, during her visit to the region. The engagements covered various areas and a possible cooperation with France, in enhancing service delivery to the people of South Africa.

INTERNATIONAL ENERGY AGENCY. The Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Dr Fatih and the H.E. Nathi Mthethwa, co-hosted African Ambassadors luncheon to share perspectives on South Africa/IEA collaboration, in particular in the G20 Energy Transition Working Group.

SANDF Air Force Chief-Lieutenant General WS Mbambo is leading the SA delegation attending the Paris Air Show. He is accompanied by Brigadier General Lepheane, the Defence attaché at the SA Embassy. SA is the current chairman of the Gripens Group club of countries under Sweden.

INAUGURATION OF “PLACE DULCIE SEPTEMBER” IN NOISY-LE-SEC. H.E. Nathi Mthethwa, participated in the inauguration of the “Place des Résistances-Dulcie-September” in Noisy-le-Sec on Sunday, July 6, 2025, by the Mayor of the municipality, Mr. Olivier Sarrabeyrouse.

NELSON MANDELA DAY 2025. This year’s Mandela International Day on 18 July will be celebrated under the theme: “It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity.” The day is an opportunity for citizens to recognise their individual power to change the world for the better.
