I've used gender neutral toilets for all of my time in mainland Europe. Small pubs, cafes, and bars often have only one, which is for all customers. You just use it and carry on with your night. It's a toilet. That's it.

To those observing that a single cubicle unisex toilet doesn't count: I have the bad news that I also worked at a large organisation with fully unisex bathrooms. The horror was unspeakable. I occasionally saw men washing their hands in a sink.
