The students at Apalachee HS started school a month ago. Today some won’t come home, because the gun lobby’s profits were prioritized over their safety. These could be your kids. These could be my kids. So I ask what any parent would. “What are we doing about the guns?”

The sickest thing about today's shooting is that Republicans have the stratospheric gall to pretend they give a damn about the young people and teachers who were killed today and the hundreds who will be irreparably traumatized. We cannot let them have power again.

Despite Donald Trump’s asinine garbage, there is zero chance a child goes to school and returns another gender. Thanks to the GOP though, there is a chance that a child goes to a school and returns a corpse. Reject Trump. Reject Republicans. Protect our kids.

A 14-year-old whose behavior showed repeated cries for help should not be tried as an adult. The adults who kept guns in the house where the troubled 14-year-old could get them should absolutely be tried as adults.

Last year a bill offering up to $300 tax credit for purchase of gun safe storage equipment passed overwhelmingly out of the House, through Senate Finance, and was on the Senate Rules calendar. The state Senate, headed by LG Burt Jones, refused to bring it to a vote, and it died.
