Today we begin bargaining for our third contract with Lee Enterprises, corporate owner of Omaha World-Herald. We are entering these negotiations with hope. But rest assured, we will continue the fight to #ProtectLocalNews . We live here, our families are here and we all need #LocalJournalism .
The unions of the largest papers in the Lee Enterprises media chain will be negotiating with Lee Enterprises this year. Find out what's happened to The Buffalo News, one of the company's largest holdings since Lee took ownership. #protectlocaljournalism
Inferior digital products. Spotty customer service. A weakened newspaper when a runway of print revenue remains.
The Buffalo Newspaper Guild and United Media Guild, as Lee Enterprises shareholders, demand more of the company on behalf of the communities where Lee owns news operations.
The demise of DCist and contracting of WAMU is a disservice for readers, listeners, policymakers and the entire D/M/V.
Ex: Margaret Barthel’s data center coverage has been essential public policy reporting. Now, we can’t even access *archived* stories, let alone expect new ones.
Now our newsroom is even smaller. Let our general manager and her boss know that you stand by #WeMakeWAMU and public media at [email protected] and [email protected].
We and United Media Guild represent workers at Lee Enterprises' largest news operations and are Lee shareholders. Today, on the day of Lee's annual shareholder meeting, we call on Lee to start investing in local news and in its digital operations. The company's future depends on it.
We have started negotiations with Buffalo News owner Lee Enterprises (Lee Enterprises) for a new contract. Our members continue to produce important work to serve our community and we will continue our fight to #ProtectLocalJournalism . Stay tuned for updates.
Lucky for readers of Richmond Times-Dispatch and its sibling papers across #Va , Michael Martz - based in DMV - keeps an eye on our state’s congressional delegation. cjr.org/the_media_toda…
