/UPDATE/The individual CMPD News arrested jumped a four-foot fence, trespassing under NCGS 14-159.12. This was a pre-existing fence to prohibit access to Charlotte’s light rail system, closed for the RNC. This fencing is part of an outer security area monitored by law enforcement.

The Secret Service is here in Charlotte to provide security for the #RNC2020 . Thank you to all the partners we have worked tirelessly with on this effort!

An individual unlawfully entered the temporary security perimeter near the RNC Convention in #Charlotte . The individual did not enter an area where delegates are present for the RNC or impact any planned events. The individual has been arrested by CMPD.

Residents of #Charlotte and nearby areas may see #NNSA ’s twin-engine Bell 412 #helicopter today. The low flights are part of standard preparations to protect public health and safety at the #RNC .

//UPDATE// Due to weather concerns, low-altitude helicopter flights will now be conducted by NNSA on Wednesday, August 19. Additional flights may occur through Monday, August 24, to secure #2020RNC .
