It’s odd to be a writer. If one paints one is a painter. If one pots one is a potter, but in many people’s mind you aren’t a writer unless you publish, no matter how much you write. There’s an odd asymmetry with other creative pursuits.

I’ve never owned a rental property but if I did I don’t think I’d expect the rental to cover the mortgage costs - if it does that is really a landlord getting a property for free. Or have I misunderstood something?
