Hold onto your prams, because Battleship Potemkin is making a centenary return to the cinemas, with music by the Pet Shop Boys. ianvisits.co.uk/articles/battl… ianvisits.co.uk/articles/battl…

I get a distinct impression that Network Rail and their predecessor National Rail have not had good value from the contractors responsible for installing and maintaining escalators at their stations. Have they asked TfL for advice?

Watch Deputy Mayor Kaya Comer-Schwartz admit she knew about station counter closures before the last Police Committee meeting. She dodged the chance to be scrutinised on it then, so London Liberal Democrats had to call for this extraordinary plenary to get answers. The Mayor refused to attend.

Nearly half the British public seems to think that illegal migrants outnumber those here legally. In fact legal migration outnumbers illegal migration by at least 10 to 1.

Despite the spivs & toughs I find the voice of Ray Brooks one of the most reassuring sounds in the world. Something postwar about it: makes me think of smoke rising from a fire built by kids on a bombsite. He voiced all those public safety ads, too. Probably saved all our lives.

Was the Mayfair Club in basement underneath Chelsea Building Society at corner of Wyatt Park Road? 45 Streatham Hill is shown as a ruin on postwar OS map. Block was apparently rebuilt c.1955 then extended south c.1962 with Crown Post Office on ground floor (now MFC bakery).
