JFK signed the Equal Pay Act 60 years ago today. It was aimed at protecting workers from discrimination, including pay discrimination, on the basis of sex.

But more than half a century later, women's salaries are on average 18% lower than men's.

Because of the pay gap, women have lost out on more than $60 trillion in wages since 1967.

Yes, trillion.

Today women still earn roughly 82 cents for every dollar earned by men, despite playing an outsized role in our economy.

We must ensure fair wages for all.
