Reports indicate that #Abiy_Ahmed ’s regime has just assassinated a renowned, if only young, Oromo politician in his hometown, Maqii, Oromia. # Jaal Battee was one of the senior leaders of the OLF (that is led by Jaal Daa’uud Ibsaa). He has been in and out of jail several times.

Very interesting presentation on languages spoken in Ethiopia by Ronny Meyer, co-editor of the Oxford Handbook of Ethiopian Languages. Cushitic languages (Somali, Oromo, Afar etc.), are spoken by most ppl of Ethiopia. Map also shows expansion of Eth. empire from around 1880 on.
