A couple interesting thoughts from yesterday:
•”transit is the soft end of the spear” (how transit has to backstop the limitations of social programs)
•driver from Gallup showed me his left ring finger which was bitten off by a third by a drunk rider. We don’t pay them enough.

Things that happen at State Transit Association Conferences (in this case, NMTA):
-Roadeo driver competitions
-Vehicle displays
-Breakout sessions (this was my session this AM on addressing rider behavior issues; there’s an FTA Regional Administrator here)
-Exhibitor socials

We are one step closer to the finish line!

Earlier today our new electric trains were tested in San Francisco. Thank you for everyone’s patience as we prepare for September! ⚡️

Please visit Caltrain.com/status this weekend before departure.

Have to say, these 2 photos on my DC/Phoenix trip this week are two of the best I’ve ever taken and a nice contrast of portrait vs landscape. Benefitted from fortuitous lighting on both occasions.

Interesting stuff in CO. While many coal lines have little use for psgr svc, there is a large # of trunk rts that are likely to see capacity/speed reductions as coal falls. It's an opportunity--if we can wake up to the need for integrated capacity planning

For me, only haven’t been to San Jose & Raleigh on this grid (been through Raleigh on the train but didn’t alight there). Other big U.S. cities haven’t been to: Memphis, Birmingham. Those are the only 4 of the top 50 U.S. metro areas I haven’t visited yet (also thru BHM on 🚆
