The dispatch community is the unseen support our field personnel rely on for communications. Once an incident is dispatched, the dispatch community coordinates, mobilizes, processes all needed resources, including supplies, apparatus, and personnel, and serves as the host center.

Thank you to Corona Fire Dept #CoronaFire for hosting the Wildland Fire Origin and Cause FI-210 class this week and to Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Region, CAL FIRE, Bureau of Land Management Fire, & U.S. Fire (USFA) for the amazing instruction & guidance they provided.

Many wildfires occur every year with some component of human activity. One key priority for wildfire investigators in FI-210 class is to identify trends on how fires are caused so new technologies and engineering, education and regulations can be developed to prevent wildfires.

Students in FI-210 learned the various ways wildfires start and how to identify the ignition methods, dispelling the myths and the urban legends. Did you know that “Mother Nature” can start fires? The vast majority of wildland fires have some cause due to human activity.

A multi-agency FI-210 instructor cadre consisting of Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Region, CAL FIRE, and Bureau of Land Management Fire wildland fire investigators delivered a dynamic training this last week for 39 students from throughout the US, brought together by U.S. Fire (USFA), hosted by Corona Fire Dept #CoronaFire.

The U.S. Forest Service - San Bernardino National Forest hosted the 2024 Engine Academy for the last two weeks with 40 students from around Region 5, including 13 forests and partner agencies, NationalParkServices, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and Bureau of Indian Affairs.
