Jungsang Kim teaching us whether or not you need a quantum computer to interpret German road signs (a IonQ-Hyundai collaboration) ! [I won't give away the answer.] #CQIQC-X CQIQC

Surprised to learn that the infamous Mpemba effect was actually described by Descartes (and, roughly), by Aristotle. Enjoyed John Goold's summary: "If you google Mpemba effect, you're going to find photos like this, of Russians,Canadians & other crazies..."CQIQC #CQIQC-X

I appreciate the sole bboard talk of the meeting, and Graeme Smith's attitude, finishing early and, upon being told he has a few min's left, saying "great – then I can tell the jokes I left out"(relating a nice story about Rolf Landauer, dearly missed). #CQIQC-X CQIQC

And that's a wrap! Thanks to ⁦CQIQC⁩'s fearless leader Dvira Segal, to lead conference organizer Arno Jacobsen, and as always to the indefatigable Anna Dyring for making this happen, and to all of you who attended and made it so stimulating! #CQIQC-X

This is terribly sad. Jeff was one of my heroes from when I first got into this business, a scientific superstar (should have shared the Nobel Prize) and a larger-than-life personality. An understatement to say he'll be missed; I still can't really believe he's gone.

Woo-hoo! It took a positive amount of time, but our experiment observing that photons can make atoms seem to spend a *negative* amount of time in the excited state is up! It sounds crazy, I know, but check it out! Kudos to Daniela +the rest of the team! arxiv.org/abs/2409.03680
