Rural GP QLD. Educated pleb. Always pining for the fjords, journeying through the angry beige. The turtle moves.

This post from Anthony Albanese is a blatant lie. #auspol. Even with this sign there are non-eligible visits that will not (and some infact CANNOT) be bulk-billed. If the PM doesn't know this then he's ignorant of his own policy and the Medicare system. If he does know; he's a liar.

Australian PM Anthony Albanese: "We're banning social media for under-16s to keep them safe online." No, you're banning social media for under-16s so EVERYBODY has to verify their age and identity (to prove they're over 16), enabling you impose digital ID under the guise of

Hey Queensland Labor & Senator Nita Green I know QLD pollies are firmly under the thumb of the pharmacy guild (they're a top 10 political donor in Aus after all), but why on earth is the pharmacy guild president at an announcement about general practice, and not...you know...a GP? Odd.

Odd.

It’s not just about owning a home. It’s about having a stake in society. We’ve priced an entire generation out of that. And we wonder why they feel disconnected.

Ha. It gets worse. Australian Labor actually got the PHARMACY GUILD to SPEAK about a policy that has literally NOTHING to do with them. I knew The Pharmacy Guild of Australia was committed to the pharmacists-can-be-GPs cosplay but F-me that's embarrassing. Queensland Labor facebook.com/share/r/1AMiku…

The problem with the commonwealth concession card; is that it's now in no way an indicator of someone actually needing support. Saw a retired couple this week with 2 investment homes, a new Landcruiser, and a concession card... So glad I pay tax to support these 'battlers'

A bang-on explanation of the fundamental issues with general practice funding in Australia. Worth a read. Can't be summed up in a 5 word sound-bite though so Australian Labor and Liberal Party may not be interested. medicalrepublic.com.au/why-general-pr…

We have an aging population that we can't afford to take care of. By pumping house prices, and then using those asset $$ to pay for aged care places by requiring larger resident contributions the government is effectively taxing younger generations without being seen to do so.

QLDCountry GP (@qldcountrygp) 's Twitter Profile Photo

There's real truth to this. "My old GP bulk-billed"... Sure. But your old GP bought their house for 2-3 their annual income and set up their practice when rebates were higher in real $$ terms. You can't get a soft serve for 5c anymore either.

Perfect general practice analogy. How many expensive niche services (urgent care clinics, women's health clinics, mental health clinics etc.) have now needed to be created; purely because politicians are ignorant of the true benefits that GPs provide and failed to support us?

Typical preformative bullshit. Want people to be less dependant on expensive private specialists? You need to fund an accessible PUBLIC service. As long as people have to wait 3 years for a knee replacement or cataract surgery this will continue. Mark Butler MP
