Today in Parliament I spoke to UNGRIPP and family members who have loved ones who have suffered under the IPP sentence regime and those who have died serving it. IPP are sentences with no end date. They have been banned as a human rights violation but not retrospectively.

Good to attend a powerful photo exhibition telling the human stories and cruelty of the #IPP sentence and the vital work of UNGRIPP Chilling the white dots represent those still serving an IPP sentence and the red ones those who have died as a result of its impact.

Really pleased to catch up with Donna from UNGRIPP today and to support the campaign for an end to unjust IPP sentences - not just going forward, but retrospectively, for all those still incarcerated years after their original sentence completed, with no release dates.

In Parliament tonight I spoke to UNGRIPP & family members whose loved ones have suffered under the now disgraced IPP sentences regime. A stain on our justice system, it’s time to remove it from our penal system entirely & retrospectively.

‘Immoral and unfair’: IPP families UNGRIPP take their campaign to Parliament. There are still 2,916 people on IPPs despite being abolished in 2013 - 1,355 never released. Photos: @andyaitchison thejusticegap.com/immoral-and-un…
