In 8 weeks, our Summer semester starts at Davenant Hall. I will be teaching Philosophy of Modernity, which is probably the most "my baby" course that I teach. If you want to understand whatever modernity moschmernity is, and talk about how to evaluate it, sign up starting May 5!

It isn't flawless (any more than the movement it is about), but I really dug The Jesus Revolution. I was raised in Calvary Chapel, and you can take the boy out of CC but never quite the CC out of the boy. It is also a reminder to be aware of the spiritual hunger around and in us.

Indeed, Rhys Laverty has been an excellent editor for many years and it has been a real privilege to work with him. Our loss is the gain of another, and I'm excited to see all the Lord does with our very talented brother and friend.

I have rarely so enjoyed a podcast conversation. "Jesus is the answer for the world today." Corny sounding, perhaps, but still true. Listen to our convo about the Jesus People.

I am really looking forward to teaching this in just over a week. This is the most idiosyncratic and "me" course I offer. If you want to talk about Charles Taylor and disenchantment stories, contemporary gender, and even UFOs (because obv), come join. davenanthall.com/product/philos…

This is an extraordinary project and I hope (and think it has the potential) to have wide reach. A prayer book isn't a prison, but an aid and guide, and it would be amazing for confessional Presbyterians to share a common prayer text in some fashion. Tell your pastor and elders!

Since some have asked: What exactly is the Book of Common Worship: A Presbyterian Service Book? Here is brief synopsis: What is this book? The Book of Common Worship is a service book that was first published in 1906 by the mainline Presbyterian Church designed for use in

"If I were a crocodile.....I'd thank the Lord for my big smile.....but I just thank the Lord for making me, me." Thank you, Sunday School eva for your occasional profundity.

What a fun conversation with someone who has influenced my thinking for my whole life. I still remember Michael's apologetics course when he was a visiting professor at RTS in DC (I was circa 30). I was deeply shaped by a week with him, and it is gratifying to give something back

Ever time I grade, I am reminded of what remarkable students I have. The papers I am reading are rich with reflection and insight.

Check out this post from Ryan Hurd on what it means to "understand" (not just agree with) Nicaea. Read this provocative post and then sign up for Hurd's class on the Basics of Trinitarian Theology - the first time he has taught this for us. open.substack.com/pub/rmhurd/p/m…

The only way to avoid violence is dialogue. Charlie Kirk was taken out in an act of serving the public sphere. The deep American in me feels the sacral violence of this act. I hope the perpetrator is brought to full private repentance and full public justice. God redeem America.
