An aging marine biologist inspects a giant old coral that’s fighting for its life due to anthropogenic heating.

Surrounding it are stands of recently dead and dying staghorn corals, for as far as the eye can see.

This is what mass-mortality looks like. theguardian.com/environment/20…

To stabalise temperature requires the same outcome: net zero CO2 emissions.

The longer it takes to get to net zero CO2 emissions, the higher the temperature outcome.

BREAKING: agree to phase out domestic coal during the first half of 2030s. This will help accelerate the shift of investment from coal to clean technology in particular in Japan and more broadly in the whole Asian coal economy, including China and India.

Apart from anything else, this is fast work by international standards. AO request lodged December 2022, oral argument Sept 2023.

It's mid-April. Time for some seasonal cooling.

El Niño is ending. Time for some interannual cooling.

Nope. Let's set a new record high for daily ocean-average surface temperature. 😬

its nuclear plan would see all targets missed.

higher costs, higher emissions… and a resulting supply shortfall leading to blackouts.

the longest political suicide note in history.
