Industrial “carbon capture” is Big Oil’s favorite climate solution. Because (as used in oil and gas) it isn't one, and they get taxpayers to subsidize it. theguardian.com/business/artic…

As I have said multiple times, the saddest thing about this type of photo is how many Iowans will say this is “natural” or “the price we pay to feed the world”. It is neither. It’s the result of horrible inefficient policies that only benefit few entities w/ a powerful lobby.

Hahah the cropaganda machine made it all the way to NPR Morning Edition to defend the tens of millions of acres of corn 🌽 sweating in the Heartland, literally verbatim someone said “corn is not a villain”. What about the rent seeking lobby guzzling in federal subsidies for it?

It was a great Q&A and will want to read Nina’s work going forward, so subscribe! She understands the political economy of corn belt agriculture exceptionally well.

Can local bans on concentrated feeding operations begin to solve the environmental and health issues they cause, or are they just pushing the problem to someone else’s backyard? Silvia Secchi and I discuss: cornbeltconfidential.substack.com/p/the-problem-…
