I agree. When it comes to #ecology, we are dealing with exponential decay or logistic decay functions. The point where the rate of decrease begins to accelerate noticeably (where the curve becomes steeper) is typically referred to as an 'inflection' or tipping point. #collapse

Nuclear risks slowing our economy, undermining energy security, punishing taxpayers and consumers and stalling our bid to reduce emissions. It deserves scrutiny and that’s exactly what the Climate Change Authority will provide. Check out my op-ed 👇 smh.com.au/politics/feder…

The Govt just approved 3 more coal projects🤯 Together they will cause 880 million tonnes of CO2 - nearly double 🇦🇺 total annual emissions. These decisions are reckless & irresponsible. We need a duty of care on climate to stop this harm. adutyofcare.com

Tanya Plibersek's decision to approve a new coal expansion (Boggabri Mod 8) in NSW yesterday just made the NSW Government's job harder. NSW is not on track to meet any of its legislated targets, including the 70% cut by 2035, which this decision will impact.

Despite the recent cold in the USA, and the presence of a (weak) La Niña in the Pacific, January is on track to be the warmest January on record. 😬

Rainfall extremes and severe flash floods are expected to get worse under global warming. It may take a little while to do an attribution study for this event, but just a reminder of what we found for the Brisbane floods of 2010/2011. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

Without NOAA we would be badly unprepared for extreme weather and climate events, sailing blind into a dangerous storm. Funding cuts make absolutely zero economic sense. theconversation.com/noaas-vast-pub…

There is a new study out in Nature about the Atlantic overturning circulation. I will be curious to see the media reporting on this. If you wonder why, read my blog article on it! realclimate.org/index.php/arch…

Ocean warming has become so significant it’s now a semi-regular feature of TV weather reports here in Australia. A warmer ocean bleaches corals, raises sea levels, melts ice caps, stresses ecosystems, drives flooding rains and amplifies humidity. None of this is good news.

Cutting funding and jobs at **US science agencies** is a totally bizarre anti-protectionist move from a protectionist president. Science creates jobs and wealth and well-being for society.
