Today in Washington, DC, we’re joining National Women's Law Center & advocates from across the country to call on to affirm that protections extend to pregnant patients, even in states with total abortion bans.

Everyone deserves abortion access, no matter what! 📢

These are the realities that those who pretend to embrace “colorblindness” are willfully ignoring and seeking to cement.

I hope every medical professional, student, and administrator takes some time to listen to the oral argument in Idaho v. United States.

More than the mifepristone case or even Dobbs, the case lays bare how some Supreme Court justices view women's need for lifesaving health care.

I tend to be pretty stoic abt my work despite how personal it is, but hearing the court debate whether states must allow a small subset of health-saving abortions hit today. It took me 4 high-risk pregnancies in 4 years to get my 2 amazing kids. 1/2

Reproductive Justice Clinic students who worked on an amicus brief in Idaho v US spent the night outside the US Supreme Court so they could attend oral arguments in the case today.

KBJ's question and Prelogar's response really highlight the problem with Idaho's stance and Turner's incredibly unclear argument

We just posted our amicus brief on SSRN for those following along with the Moyle oral argument this morning and interested in reading about why this case shows how Dobbs is fundamentally unworkable. David S. Cohen Rachel Rebouche papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

To be clear: when a pregnant patient's health or life is threatened after fetal viability (roughly 24 weeks), the standard of care is to deliver the baby & try to save its life. Later abortions do occur for a variety of sympathetic reasons, but they have nothing to do w EMTALA.

YES! My co-author, ER doc, and friend! Check out our The Atlantic piece, which might have been the first to make the argument that the Biden administration should create the exact policy it did. That policy is now before the Supreme Court. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

We should not even have to say this, but here we are: The uterus is an ORGAN.
Our right to emergency care does not only extend to SOME OF OUR ORGANS.

Justice Kagan just noted a fact we reported in Slate: In the short time that Idaho has been allowed to enforce its abortion ban against women who need emergency termination, SIX women have been airlifted to another state for care that's illegal in Idaho. slate.com/news-and-polit…

More fetal personhood coming from the Court, which is the greatest and true threat to the entire country that could throw everything into chaos

Great and important thread on expanding Catholic hospitals and refusing to provide certain reproductive care. Importantly, this includes secular hospitals that are acquired and not altered other than prohibiting personnel from providing services they did prior to the acquisition

Gorsuch: Do you really want to rely on that case? It wasn’t exactly our finest moment

Prelogar: But it does reflect the nation’s history and traditions

What a perfect encapsulation of originalism -- 'the garbage will do'-ass theory of interpretation

Good thread on the impact of religiously-affiliated hospitals on reproductive care.

For more, check out this post by Liz Sepper and James Nelson on the rise of public, yet religious, hospitals.
