In summary, our study indicates that children with asthma have impaired innate immune responses, which may explain the high frequency of viral-induced acute exacerbations in this population.

We have a PhD scholarship available to conduct an exciting project in Newcastle investigating the gut-lung axis in respiratory disease, under the primary supervision of Lisa Wood. This project would suit either a clinical or lab-based student. Please RT!
