An excellent thread that helps explain why there are those - not least a particular type of clergy - who want the 'Quiet Revival' indications to be wrong. "Do we really want people joining our church who actually believe all this stuff [points to the Creed] to be really true?"

I’d add that I think much dogged resistance to growth is because it’s often married with a reversal of the changes that a particular generation were sold as being ‘necessary’ to manage decline. Growth is an existential threat to the smaller church which they actually prefer.

My current read - don’t be put off by the title. An important reminder of the Christian roots of Britain, & of Christian ministry as that which can connect people with ‘things not tangible in a world where everything is increasingly measured by numbers and systems’. BijanOmrani
