China a dramatic example of an ageing society leading to a falling population. Aging societies like China show a shift: people want fewer kids and healthier, longer lives, demanding prolonged active engagement.

With so much of how you age determined by your behaviour and your environment, ageing well requires a greater reliance on your own choices as well as greater use of your own biological data to optimise health care. See Chapter 4 The Longevity Imperative.

Andrew. Couldn’t agree more. That is the essence of The Longevity Imperative. We already have long lives, now we have to make them healthy, productive and engaged for longer. Thats a new challenge for us as individuals and society and requires profound change.

Surveys show longevity breakthroughs aren't certain but possible with our growing aging insight. With life expectancy over 80 in some places, extended lives are real, and even longer ones feasible.

Ageing societies arise from low birth rates and extended lifespans, leading to fewer youths and more older persons. Instead of highlighting the rise in the elderly, we need to emphasize longevity, shifting focus from age to sustained life quality.

We really need to make our societies more longevity-centred. Luckily, Andrew J Scott has a great new book about how! amazon.co.uk/Longevity-Impe…
